Are you a "peanut-free" or "peanut sensitive" facility?

No. At Camp Diamond we promote a balanced diet and healthy eating. As such, it is important to eat different types
of proteins. Peanut butter and other nut products are important to a healthy diet. If your camper has a severe nut
allergy, please contact the Ontario Camps Association for a more appropriate program.

What is the OCA and are you accredited?

Yes, Camp Diamond is accredited by the OCA, an acronym for the Ontario Camps Association. The OCA is an organization that is run by camping professionals throughout Ontario and abroad. It has several standards that camps must maintain and practice to call themselves accredited.

What if our camper gets sick and cannot come to camp, do we get a refund?

We require a deposit of $500 with each application. The remainder of the camp fee plus any additional fees (including clothing, transportation, tuck, activity fees and special trip fees) will be due in full by May 1. All deposits are refundable up to April 10, less a $250 administrative fee. After April 10, there are no refunds for any reason.

However, we have partnered with MyCampProtector to offer Camper Insurance for times like these.

How can I make sure my camper's clothing and other items make it home after camp?

There is always the missing sock or towel that somehow doesn't make it home. This is an expensive waste for our campers (and their parents!) Unfortunately there is no way to ensure that all items will make it home, but you can encourage campers to keep track of items by labelling everything!

We have partnered with Mabel's Labels , a company with all types of labels that are colourful, indestructable and fun!  With a special "Camp Pack" available and also a larger Big Combo, your camper can label absolutely everything!

We look forward to sending campers home with ALL their belongings this summer!

What is Family Camp?

Having a blast while spending time with the kids!

We have a cottage in the area. Do you have a day camp option?

Yes, we do offer a day camp option for girls looking for an introduction to Camp Diamond. Day @ the Diamond programming runs from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us. The girls are integrated into the residential program, including lunch but have a seperate opportunity for Free Swim during Rest Period.

What kind of safety features do you offer?

Safety of campers and staff is important to Camp Diamond . The camp water system for drinking, washing and cooking is state of the art with microsediment filtration, UV purification and chlorination. The water is tested daily by a certified water inspector to ensure safe practices. In addition, the property is just minutes away from two major medical facilities in both Bancroft and Haliburton. Our sleeping mattresses, made by Foamite Inc., are brand new and of the latest design, featuring cleanliness, soft comfort, yet providing durable support and are hypoallergenic. The mattresses are sanitized between uses to ensure the health of everyone!

What types of activities do you offer in addition to those listed on your activity page?

Wow, what other things are there to do at camp? Tons of fun stuff! Camp outs, All-Camp Capture the Flag, Camp Olympics, Star Gazing, Scavenger Hunts, Talent Shows, Campfires, Sing-a-Longs, Karaoke, Counsellor Hunts, and much more. Sound like fun?

What does Camp Diamond look for when hiring staff?

We follow the accreditation guidelines of the Ontario Camping Association especially when it comes to hiring counsellors and specialists. Our general counsellors and program assistants must be 17 years of age prior to the first day of camp. Our Counsellor-in-Training candidates are 15 and 16 and learn how to become full time counsellors. These individuals will help out with the campers and are directly supervised by a more experienced member. In addition to being subject to strict reference checks, each staff member must provide a clear criminal record check prior to staff orientation. Every staff member is trained in First Aid/CPR prior to camper arrival.

Why should I choose Camp Diamond as our summer destination?

Camp Diamond is based on the principles of older traditional camps. In our current day, technology has overpowered much of society, and even though it has great benefits in commercial enterprise, it has prevented our younger community from gaining social experiences and skills to enable them to interact appropriately. At Camp Diamond, we enable our campers to contribute to their community through providing them with simple social skills including team building, leadership, confidence, and communication. Throughout the program, campers will enable themselves to be more confident, trust their own instincts and develop excellent social skills throughout a range of activities. We pride ourselves on our ability to create programs for all ages. Not only is Camp Diamond aiming to create well-rounded individuals, but we also wish to create long lasting memories and laughter throughout the summer and beyond. Give your family this opportunity by signing up today!
